A grid that only trades can touch.
What lives on it is up to Conway.

Every coin launched on the pad is a Game of Life. Buys switch cells on, sells switch them off, and the grid evolves on its own. Creator fees respond to what happens on it.

01Observation

Every coin is a grid.

4 096 cells, closed on itself: what leaves on the right comes back on the left, and the top meets the bottom. Each coin's grid starts empty at its launch and is never reset.

On the right, a specimen: the example coin EDEN, replayed from its first trade. Outlined boxes are trades landing; dashed ones are sells.

02Placement

The signature picks the cell.

A trade's transaction signature, read as one number, modulo 4 096, gives a cell: x = p mod 64, y = ⌊p / 64⌋. Nobody chooses their signature, so nobody chooses their cell.

Plate 1a. Opposite edges marked with the same arrows are one edge.
03Dose

The amount sets how many.

One cell per 0.1 SOL, up to 9, inside the 3 × 3 box around the cell. The order of the nine boxes is shuffled by the signature too. A buy lights them, a sell erases them.

Plate 1b. Filled boxes are the cells this trade lights.
04Time

Conway takes one step every 4 seconds.

Every 10 slots, the trades of the period are applied in chain order, then the whole grid takes one step: born on 3 neighbours, survives on 2 or 3. Anyone can replay a coin's whole life from its list of trades.

Plate 1c. The rules never change.
05Result

The grid decides when the fees burn.

Creator fees are split at launch, locked forever: 70 % buy back and burn the coin, 20 % go to its creator, 10 % buy back and burn $LIFE. The grid sets the pace of the 70 %.

No one can choose where a cell lands, pause the grid, reset it, draw on it, or change the rules.

BloomPopulation beats its record → buyback and burn of (new − old) / new of what is waiting.
ExtinctionNo living cell → everything waiting is bought back and burned. The grid restarts with the next buy.
FossilUnchanged for 300 generations → nothing moves until the next trade.

Six example grids, replaying now.
